About Us

Joyce:

Joyce and ElianaWhen I was young, home economics was a required subject, and that’s when I learned to sew. I loved it immediately, and I have been sewing now for over 40 years – for myself, my four children and many others. Now I’ve reached an age at which I want to do what’s fun, and for me that’s making things for infants and children.

Since the birth of my grandchildren, I’ve been inspired to create some wonderful new things. I’ve embarked on themed quilts, blankets and pillows for children’s rooms, and beautiful, smocked dresses and coats. I tried to pass on this love of working with beautiful textures to my children, each of whom has chosen his or her own creative path.

My daughter Shannon, who has joined me in this venture, spent years living all over the world. She hasJoyce with baby Max incorporated ideas and influences from her travels into some of our designs. In addition, she has a gift for painting the most wonderful and fanciful wooden letters and frames, which are a wonderful complement to my own products. Now that she has children of her own and lives nearby, I saw this as a wonderful opportunity for us to do something together.

It has been wonderful spending time with each other. It would be a dream come true to one day have this business grow to include the whole family.

Shannon:

Shannon and TaliaI was thrilled when my mom asked me to start this business with her. I’ve always known that she has an incredible amount of talent, and I was flattered that she thought enough of my crafts to bring me in as her partner.

My mom bequeathed her love of creating to me, though she could never convince me to sew. (How could I compete with her amazing skill? It was so much easier to convince her to make it for me!) I did, however, find that I loved to work with colors and textures with my hands and to create beautiful, unique gifts for people.

As a child I was always searching for a new medium for crafts and projects. As a young adult I did some traveling, which exposed me to some amazing, hand-crafted artifacts from all over the world as well as to the artisans who created them. I was especially affected by the colors and textures of India, which inform some of our creations.

When my own children were born, I wanted to design a special and unique gift for each of them, so I hand-painted wooden letters and photo frames. My mom created beautiful blankets and a special quilt for each of the girls. The quilt became the theme for each child’s room, and our product line was born.

I feel honored and very lucky to get to work with such a talented and special woman, one who is my friend and happens to also be my mom.

Linda:

I was an English teacher for 30 years and discovered the computer in the mid-eighties. I’ve been fascinated with this communication medium ever since. When I retired, I decided to pursue website development as a hobby, and later, as a freelance business. How wonderful that I can now use this skill in my sister's family business. I was even able to involve Joyce’s youngest daughter Bridget. When Joyce told me she wanted a cow jumping over the moon as a logo, I suggested we get Bridget to draw it for us. She did a lovely job! Of course, other family members must be given credit, as well. Joyce’s grandchildren, Talia, Eliana, and Max, are often the inspiration for the designs, and will be seen modeling some of the clothing.

I have always known that Joyce was a gifted seamstress. As I was learning to use the seam ripper in Linda with Talia as an infanthome ec., Joyce was creating lovely dresses for herself. When she became a mother, I saw Joyce create the most beautiful baby clothes, quilts, and blankets for her four children. She now creates for her grandchildren, and it is wonderful that she now wants to offer her amazing skills to others who want only the best for the babies in their lives.

How fortunate that Joyce’s artistic talents have been passed on to her daughter Shannon. Shannon loves to paint and has applied this talent to the creation of imaginative frames and wooden lettering for her children and now wants to offer these beautiful works of art to others. I only hope the pictures of everything that Joyce and Shannon have created here can show the amazing quality of this work.
